If you haven't been in receipt of CB, then I assume that this is a new case. If so, why would it be CS1?

I havent been in receipt of CB because my x has been getting it, i am only applying for it now because my son has come to live with me.0 -

Its worth noting that one can be on the system but under the old rules. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -
Crazycrazy,
What I meant was that if this is a new case (for child support), they won't calculate it on old rules unless you already have an old rules case with a child with the same ex partner already living in your household.
If it's a brand new case it will default to New rules and if there are any other links will convert all of those to new rules too.
If you were the non resident parent in an existing case (assuming there is one child) that case will close and they will open a brand new one for when you are now the parent with care. Sorry if I haven't explained myself properly :S0 -

Its not always the case .. i dont think .. my child lived with ex we were on csa1. then came to live with me. I did not go through csa. child then went back to live with ex after a year and now csa tell me i must remain on old rules as they were not informed of change in childs living arrangement. I know that people have told me that i can ask them to change to csa2 but when i mentioned it i was told a big NO!!! Am currently getting my facts together to challenge this tho.0 -

You can be changed to new rules if the case under old rules is closed for 13 weeks. You then lodge a new case and it will be under new rules.
The main motivation for people to change from old rules to new rules is that it lowers the amount they have to pay for their child. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0
