My friend works for next and she's told me that staff always get paid early in the month of the sales as the company know they're going to plough most of it back in during the sales. As they get first choice on the clothes, they've all been putting them aside for days and can just pay for it all later!

Next make most of their annual profits through the sales, the target for her shop today is £200,000 (which they exceeded on the first day of the sale last time!) ....it's not just about getting rid of old stock, it's making people believe that they're getting a bargain so they spend twice as much as they would normally. The normal non-sale stuff is expensive so people think it's worth more than it is, which makes them think they're getting a real bargain when they pay less for it; but even the sale stuff has a big mark up on it.

Me & Mum went to our branch at 4.45, spent an hour in there!
got dresses, tops and some stuff for my OH and Dad.
Not really a great deal of stuff, like there has been before but def worth the trip and gettin up early!
Two sales in a row I've managed to bag a freebie that they missed but didn't this time! oh well.............got 21 items all together.
People be sure to check their prices against reciept after, I had one come up full price but spotted it with my eagle eye and informed the SA.
Happy Shopping, off for a kip!

  • Don't know why I'm posting this as everyones probabaly at the SALE.

I may go and have a look tomorrow when its all calmed down and the best bargains are gone..................

What I absolutely hate is the red dots they put on the label. A friend of my dearly beloved once admitted to having a wardrobe full of clothes from Next with a red dot!!

I must admit most of dh's next tops fade after a few washes but then so did his John Rocha ones.....

However, he has kitted out his wardrobe with lots of Next things from the clearance when the tops were 5.00, trousers 6.00 etc. so that's a bargain to me!

Ive done my sale shop but will be popping into the store for some kids things. I think the kids stuff is better made than other retailers and the designs are much nicer. I also like some of their home stuff.

I wanted some nice jeans but their sizes dont seem to fit me - 14 is too big, 12 is too tight!
  • Yeah I said its good if its a bargain, what isnt? BUT the normal prices in the shop are over priced for what it is.

I have bough a few items in the past, Not in the sale. And after a few washes they start fading.

Like I said, there stuff is ok for a bargain but not that great if you gotta pay the full price

Hope you get some bargains anyway, I will be looking if I go past. If theres no fights of course ... lol

I would admit that a lot of full priced Next items do seem overpriced so I hardly ever buy at that price. However I have lots of items that I absolutely love, they fit well and look good AND they've lasted for a long time. Most of my work wear that I buy from Next is better quality and cheaper than you could get at a supermarket!

I admit that all the hype around the sales, especially stores opening at 4am and 5am is a bit over dramatised and quite old fashioned compared to all the other stores that are now available, but I'll still shop there and find a bargain.

I buy all my kids stuff from Next, mostly in the sales. All of it washes very well and some things are worth paying full price for. The only thing that has faded in the wash is a blue sweat jacket but it has been washed about a million times in one year (little boy loves digging in the mud). Some of their garments are labelled that they will fade with the wash, my kids have a couple of these and after loads of washing they have only faded a little bit.

The only problem is we have so much to pay this month that i cant afford to go (well OH wont let me):cry::cry:
