hiya
i'm about to be made redundant - i work regular nights and am thinking of applying for a job on nights with any of the major supermarkets (no idea of any jobs yet) i'm in my late 50s and have no qualifactions so very limited what i can do i'd rather not do retraining at my age
does anyone here work nights for the major supermarkets if so can i ask with the pay is pa and the shift rota - are any of the supermarkets better to work for than any other 1?
ta if anyone can help

I can only comment on how sainsburys was like and I have to say it wasnt too bad, pay was ok but no doubt its increased since i last did it. Normal shift hours were 9 till 6 i think. you get a 10% discount after 6 months service also a pension as well.0

Asda's pay rate was at least £7/8 for night when I worked there. I never worked nights, but sometimes worked after 10 and got paid that rate for a few minutes. Shift is usually from 10pm I think.
Also 10% discount after probation (mine was 3 months, but think it's gone to 6 months now).0 -
Tesco 10-7 shifts. I think the people on nights are on £8 an hour or just a bit more.
Our store is always taking on new staff for nights. They go crazy for night managers. Apparently their isn't enough of them. Don't know how Britain will cope lol0 -

Are the vacancies for Tesco night shift advertised in store or online?
Can you start as an entry level of staff then work your way up to night manager if you have previous management experience from outside the retail sector?
Thanks,

Most of the supermarkets handle their applications processes online now. I know Sainsburys are totally online for their recruitment.
