    Hi

Certainly if you have been told there that you have to much credit closing down unused accounts will help.
Try not to leave yourself in a position where all the credit you do have is maxed though (as this is considered bad as well) - its hard getting the balance right.

Experian and equifax often do show different things/different accounts so you could order from them as well (either by free trial or £2 for the statutory report (both have the same info on them).

I have found that by getting all 3 (Experian, Equifax and Call credit) Theres a huge disparity between my 3 reports.
2 Rate me as poor but improving. 1 Rates me as above average.

Thanks guys.... after a wee bit more advice please ;)

I want to clear off my credit card debt, which is why I thought about getting another credit card for balance transfer rather than a loan, but I was declined by Virgin and don't want to try another one to have another decline / search on my record. :(

So I have got the two reports and they are pretty much exactly the same.... All accounts are Green / Satisfactory

Equifax state I have 12 accounts

Experian state I have 13 (one of them my mortgage)

On both reports I have 3 accounts that are 'Settled'. One of which was my first mortgage with Northern Rock, the other 2 are catolgue accounts I have not used since 2007/08.
Question - should I check and make sure the accounts are actually closed (i beleive they are but i can always check). Experian states these remain on my report for 6 yrs, so the fact that are settled and green shouldn't really worry me should it?
Or are settled credit limits still classed as credit I can use??

When looking through the others is does look correct....... however I have an amber makrng against one account for two consective months in Apr & May 2009 - which is proably about right. I suppose this is affecting me also.......
    Everything else is GREEN

Based on the fact Virgin declined me I think it must be due to the fact that I have about £96,000 worth of credit against me (only £1050 is settled credit limit). However this does include £87,000 for my mortgage.......

any advice on this.... i can't reduce the credit i have as 1 is a personal loan (due to finish in Aug10), 2 are credit cards (£3743 owed in total) that i am currently paying off (hoping to balance transfer but that didn't happen) and the other is an over draft (£1150)......

As I can't get the credit card I am thinking of extending my personal loan to clear the o/draft and credit cards once and for all.....

any advice would be really useful.......

    thanks xxxx
