Adding someone to deeds and mortgage without remortgaging

Is it possible to add a person to house deeds and a mortgage without remortgaging?
My partner is sole owner of the house and is soley on the mortgage at present. He is on a good deal, so doesn't want to remortgage.
We need to do some major refurbishments, and I have the money to do this, but want to protect my investment and have some security in the event of a split or his death.
We therefore want to put me on the deeds (probably as a percentage of ownership), but I assume I will also need to go on the mortgage to do this.
Does anyone know if this is possible without remortgaging?

Check with the lender, might be no need to remortgage.
Whats the mortgage
whats the place worth
How much are you injecting
Remember that if you split it could cause morer problems both owning parts of hte place.
Could one of you buy the other out, if not then you may be forced to sell and could still loose money.
Think very carefully about this.0
