Job Interview today

Well I had a job interview today and I am feeling postive it went well. I will know thursday or friday if successful or not.Its 20 minites walking distance from me so iam happy about it, as means i can walk no fares.

Its 18 hours a weeks at the moment and maybe increased later this year.

I am currently claim JSA income based for 4 months now and was on jsa for 6 months then got switched over and HB and CT,I know if I get the job I will have to sign off and inform HB and CT,which I will do straight away.

I 've heard there is a 4 weeks run on with HB and CT, which would help me alot.I know it will be a low income, so can I claim income support as a top up, I shall re apply for HB again and CT,I have no children and live alone. The job is Monthly pay so it be a struggle.

Not sure about Working tax credit claiming as its only 18 hours a week ?

I have applied for full time and part time jobs,so I will take anything at the moment!!!

I will look for job Number 2 when I settle into this one, thats if i get it.

Anything is better than signing on,well i did sign on this morning and have a back to work interview at the same time, I normally see my advise every month for theses interviews but today it has been changed to every 2 weeks,I do hope I get the job as I want to try and get off benefits even if its part time so I will get my money this friday then went for the job interview straight after at 11am.

Any advise on benefits matters would help.

  • There's a benefits board on this site that will probably give you more answers and more quickly.

Good luck - hope you get the job :-)

Gd luck with it all, unless ur a single parent or registered disabled working tax element of tax credits doesn't apply, those are 2 groups that can claim it at 16hrs otherwise its 30hrs,

May be worth doing a calculation check on

You wont get WTC as you need to work at least 30 hours a week! And you have to be over 25.

It's a bit silly really as sometimes your better off signing on than working part time!

I've gotta agree that anything would be better than signing on, I cant wait until i get back into employment.

Ask your advisor about Return to Work grant and also a payment from Advisors Discretionary Fund towards some new clothes for work.

Well I have not yet been told I did not actually get the job, just no phone call, they might call next week to let me know what is happening.

Strange thing was she gave me some forms to fill out about bank details etc and told me to fill them in and send them off, which of course I have not done because I dont know if I have the job as yet. I always thought after you get a job you fill in theses form. She did not offer me the job she just said she would call.

    Can anyone explain ..
  • Just to add if you have been on JSA for 10 months now, you should receive a housing benefit and council tax run on for 4 weeks after you start work. It's not much but it can make life a little easier.
