    it depends. some gyms have an agreement with a bank/finance company that they are lent your gym fee up front, and then you are tecnically paying back the finance company over 12 months. I would have thought that this type of arrangement would be trickier to get out of, rather than a gym just taking a monthly payment for themselves.

    I cancelled a cannons membership without difficulty - just cancelled the DD and never heard anymore!
  • I have been a member at a gym for quite a long time, now that I have 2 children I can't get there as often. So I spoke to the gym and reduced my monthly fees down to the minimum. I can only go from Monday to Friday and between 9am and 5pm but it did reduce my fees by £25 per month. Give them a ring and ask about discounted rates for off peak times. Good luck.
