Help - vinegar for cleaning wooden floor

Husband has used pledge furniture polish on our wooden floor
Divorce imminent
I have read that the best thing to clean it with is white vinegar and there is nowhere to get it from tonight. Can I use brown malt vinegar (1 cup full in a bucket of water)?
Wouldn't be panicking but we live with my mum who walks with a zimmer and finds wood floor slippery at the best of times - I need to do something about the hall (he has done our lounge too! Will try soap and water if not.
Thanks in advance.

Have you got a bottle of Head and shoulders? It has selenium in it which breaks down silicone ? Or Biological washing powder might work.
Bear in Mind the floor will be very very slippery when it is wet so try to get your Mum to stay in her bedroom.
Wipe the soles of your shoes and or slippers with the same solution because the silicone in the polish will put a coating on them too DOUBLE WHAMMY!Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I have wooden floors too and I know what a death trap an miss aimed spray of Mr Sheen makes them! I would steer clear of vinegar unless you want the room to smell like a chipshop for days - it's sure to soak into the wood grain. I use soapy water but sometimes it take 2 washes over to make the fllor safe again! Good luck!0

DON'T USE VINEGAR!!!
It's too acidic and can ruin a good wooden floor (laminate I'm not so sure about). Someone used vinegar once on our oak floor and it left a horrible black stain.
For cleaning I've always just used a mild solution of washing up liquid and wiped it over with a cloth. The detergent should hopefully disperse some of the polishes.0 -
Thanks everyone. After a fair bit of googling I did wash it in a mild malt vinegar solution drying it with a soft towel as I went along. I went over it 3 times. It still seems more slippery than when it was dirty but that may just be because it is now clean! Definately better than after the pledge!
Edited to add that the smell only lasted half an hour and I didn't use enough to stain.
Thanks again'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0
