24 hour Nintendo spectacular at GAME on 24 July

grrr. crashed it again.

That means that 4 times i've had a DS in my basket, logged in, with my card and delivery details set up, within 10 seconds of the DSs going live... and still i've not managed to get close to buying one.

If they are going to do these kind of specials they need a system like tiketmaster where it takes the item OUT OF CIRCULATION WHILE IT IS IN YOUR BASKET and then you have 2 minutes to complete checkout. that way it would at least be the first 50 who clicked, not the first 50 for whom the web site didn't crash. The other advantage of that is that some people might not go through with the purchase, and so a few extra ones might become available 2 minutes into the hour, giving one or two people a second chance.

On the off chance that anyone from GAME finds this thread i'm just going to point out that you now have one very unimpressed customer, who's going to go to Gamestation or Amazon to buy their DS lite thanks..

I ended up viewing the whole process as a competition rather than any realsitic chance of buying. I suppose those with the best connections got there first, but then they probably don't need a fifty quid reduction!! Interesting to see how many will turn up on ebay.

Game have probably got quite a few sales off the back of this by creating a demand for people who previously only had a passing interest in the products, but this buyer will go elsewhere.

I've ordered a DS Lite White + the Disney Pixar Cars game from Lx Direct for £110.49. Used 2 codes from the online discounts/ vouchers (one for £10 off & one for 10% discount). Im guessing the game will be £29.99 so that makes the console £80.

I think that once you have one in your basket, you should be garunteed it, not wether you confirm the order with it.
