I get my organic veg/fruit via a box scheme from these people:

I have a combi box delivered once a fortnight. The quality is good, and things like lettuce and carrots last 2 weeks in the fridge and don't wilt or go nasty like the supermarket stuff does. I do have to supplement it with produce from a local farm shop (not organic), but can't really afford to buy a box a week, and there would be too much for the 3 of if we did that anyway. The website shows you where the produce comes from, most of it being local, and also updates weekly so you know what you are getting.
    :hello:

    Hi all !
Thought I would let you know on my progress so far. With all your suggestions and trailing through the boards here I have gathered some info.
The cleaning stuff seems to be Ecover and Bio d LInk here for anyone intereasted in their stuff, suggestions by some posters on here. Also suggestions have been made to using starclen, stardrops and also SOAPNUTS ! Intreasting threads. I have now decided on the stardrops for everyday cleaning, ordered some soapnuts from HERE ( using paypal cost £4.95 delivered for 150 wash worths) I also got ecover washing up liquid from a health shop for about £1.60 for a large bottle.
I travelled into glasgow today and went to a specailist organic shop armed with a pencil, papar and my purse. I visited grassroots and roots & fruits who have laods of organic stuff but too far for me to visit regularily.HOWEVER I took a name of some of their produce as it had labels of local suppliers and a few are based beside me so I came back home & looked them up.
As for the meat I have not got round to prices yet but found a few suppliers who I am wading through.HERE is a great site for organic farms and also HERE for fruit & veg delivered. Again it is the price issue. I read of a site called graigs farm in Wales which looks good, maybe people could recommend anywhere if they use it.
Thanks so muCh for your help so far,:T ( A few days ago I knew nothing) but any more would be great as Im still lost & and am grateful for any suggestions as to what more I can do, our hints, tips , reviews etc.
I am considering getting the panasonic bradmaker as I would like fresh bread and have some amazon vouchers but keep thinking it might be a waste of money?
( good news my juunk food other half bought me a bottle of organic wine and got himself an organic beer I think he has gone mad ! )

Ive been going organic the past 3 months and am really getting in to it .

Ive changed to ecover products and shop at tesco for everything......

Ive even purchased the organic no chemical deoderant and shampoos.

Ive only one area that needs changing now......

does anyone know where I can buy non chemical foundation and make up ?
Ive chucked out all my cosmetics and look terrible lol, I went to the body shop which boasts how natural their products are
(what a joke, 99% of there products contain parabens)
Ive read that PARABENS in cosmetics imatate oestrogen which cause hormonal problems and even cause cancer.
(Ive had tests done which confirm I have no progesterone).

from a very desperate lady

I would try Lush. http://www.lush.co.uk/ They have a vegan shampoo that I always get samples for... I have discovered that living in London I do not have to buy Lush products. There is enough stores in London where I can ask for samples...

Also: I have written to loads of eco friendly and organic companies and have received vouchers worth £60 so far I think. Just have a look at the organic section in Tescos and write down the brands that you like the look of. Then write them an email saying that you would like to try before you buy. You won't believe the amount of things they send. Just yesterday I received Seeds of Change Minestrone soup which provided a great lunch...

    Body shop is a joke
  • I realise this thread is very old but I'll add my advice anyway :)

Lush products contain parabens I'm afraid. But there are loads of options that don't. Try Dr Hauschka (very expensive) or Lavera - both very good (as in, they work!) completely natural, paraben free and not tested on animals makeup ranges.

    http://www.naturalcollection.com/natural-products/Lavera-Cosmetics.aspx
    http://www.drhauschka.co.uk/
(both of these links have full ingredient lists)

Don't forget the Body Shop is now owned by L'Oreal....
