I have had a message from Ebay today saying I have to register as a business! I'm not a business and am only (so far) selling a whole load of stuff (mainly for 99p) from the house! They say I have to upgrade to a business account by 25th march or I won't be able to list items.
I do list a lot every week - but it's mainly relisting! I've tried the live chat option with them - they said I have "reached the volume of selling only possible from a professional seller" and gave me a link to appeal against it. At the mo I'm selling an average of 10 items a week - most at 99p!
I think perhaps the volume is calculated on number of items listed/sold - not amounts in cash generated from sales - don't know though.
Is this the way it's all going to go now? Not really sure what to do - don't want to pack Ebay in as it's handy and I'm still working my way through the pile of stuff! I've contacted them to ask for exemption from becoming a business account and am now waiting for the reply.
I'll let you know the result - but I'm guessing that there's quite a lot of other people on here who may be similarly affected!
Edit - just read elsewhere on the forum that it's free listing day on 20th and 21st march - don't really feel very inclined to bother now - but I know I must - still have 5 or 6 larger items to list (for more than 99p!!)0 -
Mrs Money - They haven't done that to me but I am doing the same as you so its only a matter of timeSealed pot challenge 18750

Paula - i think "bl00dy mothers" would sum it up! if you can squeeze it on!
talking about EBay, i forgot to say that they are changing their rules 1st apr, if you are a business seller and you sell over 100 items in 12 months and your dsr is 4.6 or over, you qualify for top seller statuis, which comes with a 20-30% discount on feesturn £100 into £10000 in 2010 member #16 £567.68/£10,000 -I'm a wiggly worm, I'm a wiggly worm, how do you do, I love you, I'm wiggly worm!0
