Prudential Asia Deal

    No impact at all. At least not directly.

    Indirectly, merger and acquisitions tend to indicate confidence in the markets and that can push the stockmarket as a whole up in value and that will reflect on the equity holdings in the with profits fund.

    Pru need to expand more outside of the UK to survive. The UK just isnt profitable enough for transacting new business. At best you are going to tread water if you are UK only or have only limited global business. This is why so many insurance companies are no longer open for new business or they have sold off their life & pensions arm (and why most with profits funds now invest for solvency rather than growth).
