NI contributions at 60

My wife is 60 in July and will be entitled to her state pension in November. I have heard that from the beginning of the tax year in which you are entitled to the state pension you do not need to pay national insurance contributions. Does anyone know whether this is true?

That's not the case.
NI is payable right up till the 60th birthday.
In fact, if she were self-employed, NI is due for the whole of the tax year in which she reaches 60.0
