Multicookers - what do you know?

Hi
I hope you will know the machine I'm describing. They are about 40cm in diameter, and have a thermostat which plugs into the side. This thermostat, SUPPOSEDLY has 5 settings.
I have now had 3 of these and am having the same experience with each one ie the cooker is either ON or OFF. The contents are either bubbling or nothing is happening.
Does a) anyone have the same problem b) know of a make which can actually be adjusted and can recommend a make and supplier.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Is it something similar to this:

I watched them demonstrate this on the TV the other day and it seems quite good, the reviews seem quite good too.
My mother used to have a big square one years ago but that didn't have different settings it was just on or off.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
Hi Harvestmoon:hello:
I don't know about them myself, but there are a couple of older threads, which may have some useful discussion. Have a quick look if you like

Electricity control is different to gas.
With gas you can lower the flame to keep a steady temperature.
With electricity it is either on or off. When it reaches the correct temp it switches off and as it cools it is back on (Full).I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0
