Forget about the telephone, it is completely irrelevent. You cannot legally acknowledge a debt on the phone, whatever the DCa tell you. just cannnot be done.
the only thing that would affect you is if they have the equivalent to a CCJ against you.
please ring NDL or CCCS Scotland as they can explain the Scottish law better than I can.

Do you have assets, or a decent income? If not, you might be best just to go LIIL - low income low asset bankruptcy. It only costs £100, and wipes out your debts for sure, with a known date. If you could do that it would take away any stress or worry about them coming after you.0
