my elderly relative has an outside toilet next to the kitchen .
My plan is to put an entrance from the kitchen so she could use it .
1 do I need planning permission .
2 are you allowed to put a toilet off the kitchen ,If not (plan 2 ) was to use the exsisting toilet as a lobby and build a new wet room to the rear off the exsisting toilet .(planning needed )
Does anyone know the costs involved .

I am sure someone will be along soon that knows more than me - but I think there is some regulation that you need 2 doors between toilet and eating area.

    Hi,
I think if it's interior modifications along these lines then it's actually building control you need to be talking to especially if you are adding a new door.
Why don't you ring them up and ask?

I've always been told that you are not allowed a toilet directly leading off the kitchen - hence the 2 doors that Bobs mentioned. Also it's good to get building control involved early so that you don't make any expensive mistakes as they will need to sign off on any work done.

I recently viewed a new house in Lisburn ThaxtonVillage and there was a door off the kitchen/diner straight into the toilet.
