subprime mortgage

i am wanting to move house in the very near future.
problem is credit history.
2007 was a very bad year and i managed to get a ccj and about 4 defaults none of these were for massive amounts and are all clear now.
managed to get a mortgage in 2008 by the skin of our teeth as i also had a missed payment on the mortgage and some late payments this was arranged by london and county through beacon but is with redstone?(still dont really understand that bit!)
anyway since the remortgage we paid off all credit and now have just a mortgage which is now paid on time.
have i got any chance of getting another mortgage or am i dreaming??
we would need to borrow around 3.5x our joint income and would have around 25% deposit.
just wondering if i should get in contact with the broker who arranged the last mortgage for us to see if there is anything available to us.
the only reason i am asking on here first is because i dont want to build my hopes up if its looking unrealistic.

    Wait until nearer the time.

Get an up to date copy of your credit file at that time - don't worry about getting the credit score as that is pretty much irrelevant. The important score is the one you get with a lenders scoring system.

However you might want to speak to a broker now, just to see what steps, if any, you could take between now and then to improve the situation.
