Long term bonus

Hi
I have been working for the same company for 10 years. One of the benefits of working for this company was that after 10 years you get a £1000 bonus.
My contract was changed 18 months ago when I changed roles (still working for the same company). I checked with HR today as to when the bonus would go into my salary and was told that under my new contract there are no long service awards and I therefore won't be getting it.
This was never explained to me when my contract was changed, so I am very disappointed. Admittedly I didn't check at the time but I never suspected that this would happen. I am thinking of taking it further but wondered if anybody knew whether legally I have a case or not?
Thanks in advance

If you willingly signed the new contract and didn't bother to read it, then I doubt you will get very far.0

Was it written into your original Contract that you will be paid this ?
If not, this could have been a voluntary thing your always Company did out of their own "generosity" to keep the workers happy whilst times were good.
Now times aren't so good, and it's non-contractual so not legally binding, perhaps they have just voluntarily decided not to pay this?

Yes, the original contract did have this included. There are a number of people still on this contract. My contract only changed because I moved to a different part of the business.
When I changed contracts I ensured that my longevity within the company was maintained and had the contract amended to reflect this. I was not made aware however that the long term benefit was being removed.
I did read the contract without noting that this benefit had removed. I was wondering from a legal stand point does a company have to make it clear if any significant changes are being made.0 -
