Work have messed up my pay! Help please!

Hi

I have been on maternity leave with ended Sunday 14th February, from the 15th February to the 5th March I am on annual leave. Wages were paid on Friday and I was only paid 2 weeks SMP.

I contacted my HR dept who stated that they had never received an actual end date for my maternity leave but then back tracked when I told them I had the written confirmation in front of me. Looks like they had put me on unpaid maternity effective from 15th Feb.

HR called me back to state that they had now processed this through and someone from pay section would call me back, they never did. So I contacted HR again asking what had happened. There was apparently notes on the system to say that an urgent CHAPS payment had been sent and would be paid to me on the Monday (today). Wasn't happy but seemed the only course of action.

Checked my balance today and there are still no wages. Contacted HR and there are no notes apparently stating a CHAPS payment has went through. I'm at a loss what to do, waiting on someone calling me back. Its been marked as urgent but in all honesty I am actually desperate for the money now. Rents due and I need food shopping and baby milk. My wages were down £500.

Is there anything I can do apart from the greivance route (which I will be taking as its not the first time they've messed up my pay albeit previously its only been OT)

They keep saying they'll pay any bank charges which is fair enough but its not there credit rating its affecting. I can't ask for money from parents etc as there pretty skint too.

Its just so annoying as its my money and they seem to like witholding it!

speak to your manager maybe and ask them to put some pressure on HR. I would definately do the grievance route because at least it will get it of your chest
    Always ask ACAS

    Hello Nikki,

It all hinges on the CHAPS payment, you need to find out if it has gone through or hasn't it.?
It should take the same day to hit your account and that could be anytime up close of business (midnight)!
If they haven't sent one today, they still have time to process one, otherwise it will have to be tomorrow.

Thanks, unfortunately its a big organisation and HR won't speak to my manager in regards to my pay. The whole things a total farce to be honest.

Apparently the CHAPS payment was issued on Friday but after the cutoff off 10am? (my bank said that its 2pm) so would hit my account on Monday. Its still not in and after my phone call to HR this morning it looks like it hasn't been done at all.

I'm half way through my letter of greivence (sp??) and its making me feel a bit better to get it all of my chest but no doubt i'll get the response "human error".

If the chaps payment is being processed today it probably wont hit your account til this afternoon , banks normally have a cut of time of 12.30 . Most banks are in the fast pay system , which these days is a lot quicker then chaps is there any reason why they couldnt pay this way?
Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later

Thats the thing though, I was told on Friday that the chaps had been issued. Phoned this morning and it hasn't been done. TBH I feel like they are just trying to palm me off.

I had this problem a few years ago, turns out manager hadn't sent the paperwork to confirm that I had physically returned, despite the advance notice.

All paperwork has been received and confirmed by HR. They have admitted they are at fault. After a very blunt, I'm not being fobbed off call earlier I have now been advised that I will have my pay by 4pm Wednesday at the latest. Not brilliant but at least I'm getting it. There classing it as an advance though so I can see next months pay being the same. Yay.

Nice one Nikki....almost, at least you have an answer.
But why no CHAPS tomorrow ?
 Sounds like somebody accidentally processed it through BACS and are covering their BACks ???
