New BBC drama "Shiny Shiny Bright New Hole In My Heart"

I don't want to be a miserable old DFW, but is this really what we need to see on TV? Hope the BBC do it properly, to try & educate people rather than glamorise being in debt.

"Drama in which Natalie, an attractive and successful young woman, who works as a personal shopper in a glamorous department store, becomes seduced by the opulent lives of her clients.

As her spending habits spiral out of control, she is faced with devastating consequences for herself and her family
"

From the description Floss, I think it sounds like it will be more af an anti-debt programme than anything else? If they've emphasised the 'devastating consq for herself and her family' in the precis, then I would assume it's a tale of how devastating debt can be, and therefore, be a dissuasion??

Think I'll watch this as it reminds me of the friends I know who live on benefits on a roughish council estate and read those glossy mags full of celebs, then try to look/act like them.

One of the new storylines in Eastenders is about Juley being in debt. Being soap-time, he'll probably get it sorted out by three weeks on Thursday.

Sounds like it might be good actually. Perhaps putting something like that in glam sparkly drama form will get through to people more than something dry and documentary-ish?
I think people are starting to become a bit more debt aware in the media in general, even if not enough people are doing much about it. There's been a lot of "help I'm in debt" programmes lately- its probably a good thing.
