using a local credit union. Been thinking about it as I want to save some cash that my OH doesn't know about so I can give us both a treat, but as he deals with the finances and my wages go directly into our account (and he questions everything I spend or take out of the account cos we are reducing our debts), and are running to a tight budget anyway, I thought having £5 a week going into my local credit union straight from my wages might be the way to go, as then my OH wont know it was ever there in the first place.
We have been doing so much to reduce our debts, and are very nearly there ish... but I think even if it is one night out by ourselves somewhere once a year it will renew us to carry on.
My wages change weekly too so I could hide the £5. I know you are going to say dont have secrets but this is for us both and I know it will be money well spent as we are losing sight of each other over everything else IYKWIM.
Advice needed please just dont be too harsh lol

Honestly, you need to stay truthful, whilst in your mind you are planning a wonderful little surprise in a year, £200 weekend away. The thing is, you may get a surprise by his reaction.
£5 a week will save so much interest, you won't believe. if you do not manage the finances you may not yet understand why.
I was playing with the snowball calculator, by adding 10p a month, it brought a debt down from 666 months to 309 months. Fine that was extreme, but being realistic.£3000 Credit card @ 25.9%, paying £100 a month.
"It will take you 48 months to pay off these debts if you snowball correctly. During that time, you'll pay £1,713.00 in interest."£3000 Credit card @ 25.9%, paying £120 a month.
It will take you 36 months to pay off these debts if you snowball correctly. During that time, you'll pay £1,227.00 in interest.
Instead of saving and spending it, if you wait you will have more money at the end! The above is a very realistic example, for 1 loan (can bigger if you have more than 1 debt). It knocks of 1 year and saves £500!Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
