Need a new blender, on a tight budget - any recommendations

My food processor gave up the ghost at Christmas - I've managed since then, didn't use the processor part much anyway, and it took up a lot of worktop, but I am missing the blender part.

It's mainly for smoothies, milkshakes and crumbing - I'd like at least a 1.5 litre jug. I don't want one that's too difficult to get on and off the base as my grasp isn't always what it should be. For the same reason I don't really want a glass jug because of the extra weight.

Are there any recommendations for a good, cheap (preferably not more than £30) blender that might fit the bill?

This any good, blend anything by sticking it in either pan, jug etc.

I have one and its brilliant, doesn't take up much room either.

    Thanks.

I have got a stick blender, but don't use it a lot because my dodgy grasp doesn't always let me hold it (vibes from the motor cause problems). Also the kids can't use it as easily if they want to do their own shakes etc. Really looking for a jug&base type.

There are Salter, Kenwood and Russell Hobbs ones at Argos in my price range with pretty equal reviews - just don't want to make a mistake.

I had looked at that one aliadds, but a fair few reviews say it's a heavy jug, and difficult to fit/remove lid - which are exactly what I want to avoid.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

From memoery, my Tesco Value one (large jug, different speeds but none of the fancy extras you get with the smoothie makers like a tap or mixing stick etc) was £9.99 when I bought it in-store last year. It's been fine and does the job.

In case anyone comes across this thread with the same query - I ended up with a Kenwood BL450 - cost about £25 inc. next day delivery from the Co-op (via Quidco) - had it about 2 weeks now and am very happy with it.
