Dear Sir/Madam,
Account number: <deleted>
I write with reference to the money which you are claiming on the above account.
I can confirm that I am unable to offer to pay the money which I owe in full.
However, I can raise £889.00 and want to offer this as an ex-gratia payment in full and final settlement of the account. This offer is made on the clear understanding that, if accepted, neither you nor any associate company will take any other action to enforce or pursue this debt in any way whatsoever and that I will be released for any liability.
I also request that, if accepted, you will make an entry on a credit reference agency file relating to the above account as "satisfied" in full.
Payment can be made within two weeks of receiving your written agreement of this offer and method of payment.
I look forward to receiving your reply.
Yours faithfully

Was this letter from barclaycard? Could you tell us a little history on the case, such as when you defaulted etc, how long you have been with calders etc?
30% is a very good deal. I'm negotiating a F&F at the moment. I cant get sub 70%:(0 -
To put it simply, it went to Mercers - then for a good year I never heard a peep, but continued making voluntary payments directly to Barclaycard. Recently, out of the blue, Calder Financial (part of Barclaycard) contacted me - I originally setup a small payment plan, until they offered me that settlement figure.
Didn't really do anything special, other than negotiate with Calders/Barclaycard.0
