Has anybody used musicmagpie.co.uk?

Same deal as envirofone etc but for cds, dvds and games....
sounds too good to be true so was wondering if anyone had used them as sounds a lot simpler than Ebay!
Thanks in advance!

  • I have used them twice in the last month. You dont get much for your cds ( average is around 30p ) but ours were just gathering dust. I got the cheque about 2 weeks after posting the cds. Pretty painless experience for me and will definately use again in the future.

I found that it didnt offer a reasonable price for my CDs.. But if it works out as a reasonable price, go for it.

I'd definitely use them again. Good service.

I've used them for selling some DVDs and had no problem, but in many cases they don't offer as much as CEX does.

However for some items Music Magpie offered me more, so what I do now maximise my earnings by checking what each will offer me and opt for the one giving me the higher amount.

I use an Excel spreadsheet to do this, but writing it down on a piece of paper would work just as well.
  • Thanks everyone.. have been quoted £16.40 for 17 years old CDs that were just lying around the house gathering dust and haven't moved since I moved into my house 5 years ago! Not bad going that!! :D

Thanks, didn't realise/forgot cex took cds as well, thought they just did games etc.

Looks like items don't need to be in as good condition as they do for music magpie, which'll be a help.

I've used Music Magpie in the last month, they've received and accepted my goods but I'm still waiting for a cheque. They say it takes 7 working days to receive a cheque from them (thought Royal Mail was bad but not THAT bad) and even if you don't receive the cheque then you'll have to wait until 10 working days have passed before they re-issue you a cheque, then of course you have to wait up to 7 working days again!!! Found their customer service a bit rude too when I contacted them to complain that I still haven't received my cheque even though I sent my goods to them over a month ago. Hopefully I'll receive the money sometime before my baby comes in April!!
I would recommend CEX.co.uk, we sold some things to them in the last couple of weeks (as we didn't want to risk using MM again) and they sent us our cheques within a couple of days of receiving our parcels - couldn't fault their service, and they pay better than MM, plus they send your goods back to you if they're not acceptable which MM do not. Only downside to CEX is that you have to pay the postage for sending your parcels to them.

I haven't used CEX via mail but have sold them items in one of their branches.

I got exactly what their website said for all the items and though I had to pay my bus fare to get to the shop it was worth doing as the postage would have been more.
