Much needed support please

Before I begin let me apologise as it's not a fun post - all doom and gloom I'm afraid, 2009 was pretty bad for our family financially in that due to jobs/ changes in circumstances we were about £600 down every month, with a lot of juggling and cutting back though we were just about managing, now 2010 is here things have gone from bad to worse!! We've already had a death in the family and my OH has just been made redundant (2nd time in as many months), my tax credits have also been stopped as we were overpaid so now we are at least £1600 short each month, obv my OH is going to look for another job now but what do we do in the meantime? We also have 3 teenagers at home and he is still paying £120 per month child support for his daughter who is now at college (by voluntary agreement) we will have to stop this untilhe gets another job even though we don't want too - my council tax is in arrears my mortgage is too by one month and a secured loan us £300 pm this should have been paid up in April but because over the 6 year term we have missed payments etc they added about 2k in charges and fees also! Any advice much appreciated

  • There are lots of people on here who will offer you support and advice. The first step is probably to complete an SOA and post it here theres a link on the main thread I think. it'll help you work out ur exact shortfall etc.

I would start tho by ringing mortgage/loan people etc and explining the situation and attempting to come to some agreement - some companies are good when it comes to taking payment breaks etc or reducing payments others are not so good. what about temporarily moving your mortgage to interest only that may be a short term option?

    good luck
