Maybe give it 24 hrs to give the medication chance to start working? If it continues to get worse then insist on a gp appointment. I dont think a & e will do much for you if its musclular pain. If you are in any doubt you really need to see your gp. Hope it eases soon.

A&E will only give you pain killers, and depending on the set up you MAY be able to see a physio (likely not though). The only good thing would be they should do a neuro exam to determine what is going on in the nerves (fairly important when you have symptoms down your arm). A muscular injury will NOT give you pins and needles in your hand. That is a nerve injury.
What work do you do? I can't imagine it will be much fun when you are feeling like that. What 'stretches' did the GP say to do?
For goodness sake go and see a physio or chiro (someone recommended to you is probably best).

Well, I am now taking diclofenac, co-codamol and as a precaution the GP gave me some laxatives too :o (a must to counter a possible side effect of the diclofenac)! GP just told me to 'do some stretches' but didn't say anything else - not helpful. I am lucky that I mainly do office based work so not very strenious.

I have however, since my last posting discovered a work colleague whose husband is a chiropractor with his own practice. I've spoken to him and if the pain is no better in 48 hours he will see me so that's good news.

At the mo, I am feeling still pain but a numb dull pain as oppose to the sharp pain, so the painkillers are working!
