Bank charges - cashpoint fees

Hi there,
I'm new here and currently trying to claim back unfair bank charges from the last six years (for example, one instance - £112 in charges for being overdrawn by £4 for ten days!!!).
In tallying up the total costs, there are several hundred pounds worth of additional charges for using cashpoints that aren't my banks 'own'. These are predominantly from 2000-2002 but it comes to quite an amount.
But i'm not sure if it is possible to claim these back? Does anyone know?
Thanks,
Sarah

As far as I know cashpoint charges are not included although the ocnsumer action group should be able to advice you further
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Isn't this getting a bit mad? I mean I understand the bank charges thing, but surely no one made you use a cash point that charged?0

No bikerqueen, they didn't, and I didn't expect to be able to claim them back. Then again, no one 'made' me go overdrawn, that was my error, but I don't believe it is 'mad' to ask for some clarity when you consider the outcry that took place when cashpoint charges were introduced and subsequently removed - not when a lot of people don't actually believe they can even claim their unfair charges back??!?!?!!?!?!0

Thanks Lynzpower - I shall check that out. You seem to be the oracle around here!

well i can see that no one made you go overdrawn but charging excessively seems to only compound the problem and has been declared illegal so you're perfectly entitled to claim them back.0

...but not cashpoint charges as these are a charge for a service and not a penalty. The crux of the argument is that bank charges are being used as a penalty, and only the government and the courts can impose penalties.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0
