Updating addresses on defaults

My fiance has just received his credit file and even though he has written to debt collection agencies from our current address, the addresses on some of his defaults are old addresses.
Is there a quick way he can get these addresses updated as it's obvious that the debt collection agencies aren't passing his info on? We are applying for a rental house and are worried that the old addresses will cause a problem.

Are you paying the DCA direct?
If so, do they have the legal right to request payments, i.e. have you received a DOA (Deed of Assignment) from the previous creditor / DCA?Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
At the moment, he's not paying anyone. He wrote to several offering a monthly payment but only one responded (Natwest) and so that account has the correct address on his file. Are you paying the DCA direct?

But previously, he was paying the DCA direct and he said he didn't receive any doa.0 -
I suggest he makes a CCA request to the DCA / Creditorslouiseg0151 wrote: »At the moment, he's not paying anyone

CCA Request Topic - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=26867731#post26867731
CCA Request is for a copy of the credit agreement, its handy to have as it will tell you if a creditor is allowed to charge (interest included) for debt collection.
If they can return a CCA then its likely they are collecting for the account.
Also, if a CCA is invalid, unlawful or cannot be found, then a creditor/DCA cannot use the courts to recover the money.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Thanks for the info, however, my fiance doesn't want to dodge the fact he has debts, etc and does want to pay them off, however, we really need to get the addresses updated but have no idea how to do it.DarkConvict wrote: »CCA Request Topic - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=26867731#post26867731

Is the only way to do this, ring up the creditors named on his credit file and update his address with them? We need this done asap or we would write to each creditor. We're just weary of the letting agency doing a credit check that will show defaults at alternative/linked addresses.0

A default is a default therefore his credit rating is already tarnished.
The purpose of the CCA request is to see whether the alleged debt is enforceable, if it’s not, that opens another can of worms, however, which ever route you decide on, it's not going to happen as quickly as you like, i.e.: ringing up and changing an address.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

3 of his defaults will drop off his credit file this year as they are coming up to 6 years old. We are aware of how they affect his credit file and he knows they are his debts so doesn't want to try and get out of them. It's not the fact that he has the defaults that's a problem as the letting agency are aware of them and are ok with it. However, the issue is that the referencing company state that if adverse information is discovered at a linked address, the application will be declined. All we need to do is update his address with the companies and I don't see how a CCA request would help.A default is a default therefore his credit rating is already tarnished.
