Mortgages, Credit Card and Remortgage

Options
Hi All,

My two year discount deal on my mortgage is coming to an end in March and I am starting to think about anything I can do to improve my credit history.

My current mortgage was my first with my partner and when we moved in we made some big purchases on two 0% cards and have been balance transferring them since. This means I now have a Halifax (which I used for general purchases and is cleared every month), IF, Natwest and HBOS credit card (this has £2500 0% until March).

Would I be better paying off the £2500 (likely to be £2000 at min payment by March) on my 0% card to get increase the likelihood of getting a good offer from one of the high street lenders/decrease my chance of being turned down on my credit score or 0% transfer it again? Is this debt going to matter?

Should I cancel the credit cards I am not currently using (IF and Natwest)? I haven’t closed them yet as I always like to have some credit as a backup in case of emergencies…

I have not missed a mortgage payment or minimum credit card payment since taking the cards out, so should have any red crosses/adverse history…

Any ideas that you think will make my me more credit worthy greatly appreciated…

Let me know what you all think…

Cheers,

B
