Hi,
just wanted to let you all know that i got the confirmation today that my DAS has been approved (even with all the hassle i had for HBOS they have agreed) and now in 8yrs and 2m time i will be debt free. It feels excellent.
I just wanted to say thank you to you all for your support and help over the last few weeks, i still can't believe that i don't need to stress so much about how i'm going to pay things and having money for the basics. Having got by on next to nothing over the last 9 months or so it feels brilliant to be able to pay everything buy for and even put a little bit away for emergencies/rainy days. It just brilliant.
To anyone who is lurking take the plunge and post these guys are brilliant and excellent support it is honestly worth it.

Not to sound like a noob again, but what is a DAS?
Its a long road ahead for you still, but if you can carry on making those savings you could bring your Debt Free Date closer.
There is plenty of support on these forums for those in for the long haul to become debt free.

DAS as beanielou said is Debt arrangement scheme. It's only available in Scotland basically a debt management plan, but means that your creditors have to freeze interest and charges and you only pay back what you have outstanding. Have to give all creditors 3 weeks to agree or object (really nervy time) and then it is put in place (where i am today) and then you pay it back.
I had to take a cut in hours at work which forced my light bulb moment, which has actually been a blessing in disguise, so hopefully if i get another job, r can work more hours i will be able to increase my payments and bring my debt free date forward, but i'm sure i'll still be here for the long haul, but i'm proud to have faced up to my debts and to now be dealing with them.:j0 -
Ah, Scottish laws don't come up that often here
Im glad you have things moving along, i think it is good there is a proper arrangement in Scotland, must like statute barred debts are 'extinguished' not just unenforceable in court.
