    I'd have thought a research scientist on circa £30k (which is what he really is) would be able to research tax without quite so much handholding though ;)

    If he is on £30K all this discussion is academic as he isn't a higher rate taxpayer even with his bonus.

    It's called Active Learning in schools nowadays! In other words they want to do their Maths collaboratively so that someone tells them the answers and they don't need to work it out for themselves. ;)
