Is this cheap??

I've just been to my local market and bought the following

2 lb of stewing steak
2 lb of best mince steak
2 lb of chicken breast

All this for £15

Is it cheap?

Cheap-ish - not fantastic. All depends on the quality. From my experience of market meat I would have expected more for my money than that though! I think I could have equalled it from local shops, but again probably not the best quality.

You will probably find the stewing steak is like the Tesco Value one, but cook it long and slow and it should be OK.

Checked the prices in Tesco and the same would cost you, for a kilo of each (a kilo is 2.2 lb) so the weight/price difference is only 10%. If you had bought a kilo of each it would have cost you £16.50.
