  • Hi,
There is a telephone letter on this site somewhere. I had the same problem and sent this:

Further to the telephone call made to me at work today, please note that due to the nature of my work (and lack of the necessary privacy to discuss personal matters) I am unable to take telephone calls at work. I request that my work number, and all other numbers you hold for me, be removed from your data base.

The Administration of Justice Act 1970 S.40 makes it a Criminal Offence for a creditor or a creditor's agent (often a debt collection agency) to make demands (for money), which are aimed at causing 'alarm, distress or humiliation, because of their frequency or publicity or manner'.

The OFT guidelines state that examples of unfair practices include:

"2.2g. ignoring or disregarding debtors' legitimate wishes in respect of when and where to contact them
2.6j. acting in a way likely to be publicly embarrassing to the debtor either
deliberately or through lack of care"

I request that all correspondance be in writing and have provided my address.

Send it recorded, although I emailed mine. The calls stopped and I haven't had any since.

    Good luck

The above OFT guidelines, do also apply to further your case of harassment.
