    Sal hun,

And you know how you were worrying about DH taking B out of the country? Is is not allowed unless you have given written consent. No parent is allowed to. Just to calm your fears a bit. xxxx

unfortunately, if a parent really wants to, they will. This is what happened to me and my sister when i was 6, she was 7 1/2. My father sent us to the US without my mother's knowledge. We were on visas so we had to come back after 4 yrs, but the damage was done.

I know that now there are organisations to help if this happens, whereas back in the early 70's there wasn't much help at all.

I think Bunny was meaning taking her out of the country to live, Scaredy.

Don't think it's a problem to take them on holiday etc.

Edit - Skinty, sorry, not Scaredy!

legally written consent is needed, in practical terms not often done...

But in order to get them out of the country you just say you are going on holiday...

Sally, I'm sure most men wouldn't do this and as long as your OH knows you want him and B to maintain good contact surely he'll be fine. Fingers crossed he gets a job soon.

  • The laws have changed recently apparently.

My SIL would not be allowed to take her son to the USA without written consent from her ex. I know it used to be different...

Ok thanks guys...im not worrying about that too much tbh. She doesn't have a passport and lets face it, how many men would spend time filling in that form!
