is this best to stay with the provider or to shop around? our insurance is with the Leeds who do free travel insurance with the 5year fixed rate deal upto 60 days for each visit no matter how many times you go away per year, i forgot how much it is, its not to bad. the insurance also covers for loss of items outside the property i.e mobile phone, computers etc.

Why don't you have a look around? Have a look at quidco, get some quotes for B & C and travel insurance and compare prices. See what it costs and factor in the cashbacks. Do some quotes via comparison websites.
Usually lenders rates are much more expensive than the above for comparable cover.0 -
Have a look at moneysupermarket.com. There travel insurance is very cheap and also Building & Contents quotes. Two weeks travel insurance for 2 adults and 2 children costs £15 in Europe. They do annual policies but if you are going away once or twice its cheaper to go for serperate cover.
It always works out cheaper for us to do individual policies.0 -
I know of no form of insurance that is more prone to 'conditions' than travel insurance (an absolute nightmare - and one we will not ever consider touching as brokers).
I spent 15 years of my life travelling around the planet (often to some of the less pleasant ones), prior to settling down to do my current thing, and spent a considerable amount of time ensuring that I and my colleagues were properly covered (not easily achieved - believe me).
I strongly recommend NOT selecting travel insurance on price !Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
is it true that if you have your building contents/insurance with the bank/building society who you have the mortgage with they would get things done more quickly, rather than an insurance agent such as Direct Line - as the house is there investment.0

Just ensure that the buildings are covered from the date of exchange of contracts.
Lender provided insurance is rarely cheap. You need to compare price and quality of cover .... it's not always best to buy the cheapest insurance provided.0
