Just been to M&S

well the Simply Food one at the services, I had a £17 exchange receipt to spend so thought I'd pop in and get some bits. SO much was reduced - I got king prawns 50p, smoked salmon salad (huge portion) 50p, 2 x orange/apple fresh juice 50p........
Came out with a weeks worth of food for me for £29 - never done that before in M&S!!

lucky you! What time did you go there?
  • The reductions at the simply food outlets in service stations do tend to be really good - there's one not far from me and I've never failed to pick up a bargain. I'm not sure if there's a best time as such, if we go it tends to be in the evenings. I also used to live near a very large simply food outlet that did brilliant reductions on a Sunday afternoon before it closed at 4.
  • It shut at 10pm, and I got there at just after 9pm

I was wondering now that M & S allow other brands on their shelves have they gone down the value range like most supermarkets or is theirs called non value range?

The food one goes out later on this week.

As for the reductions in service stations. Those places are run as a franchise, a joint venture with M&S. They supply the building, staff etc and buy the food from M&S to sell on.

So anything thats going out of life gets sold off very cheap rather than get nothing for it. So great places for cheap food if your in there very late. But you need to be a bit of a night owl to grab the stupid prices.

I have been a few times to my local store which is a normal clothing store with food hall and quite often after 8pm the food is reduced to silly prices. My kids think they are being spoilt when they see M&S grub in the fridge.
