Hi, I've started working as a childminding assistant and the lady i work for has said that i need to register as self employed. The amount i will be earning is nominal as it is part time casual. Does any one know about registering as self employed and as if i need to register for NI contributions? I'm baffled.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Even though the amount of money is small you must register with HMRC. You can complete a NI small earnings exemption. Have you also considered whether you need insurance or is this provided for you?
Best wishes:)0
