Hi - I have just found out today that I have been on tax code BR CUMUL for almost 5 years.
I have been in touch with the inland revenue who are now putting me on the correct tax code (647L I think) and I now have to wait to see if I'm entitled to any sort of refund.
Any idea's?
Thanks
sara

If you have been on BR for this time, then you will be due a refund for all these years (assuming yours is not an unusual case owing tax and this is the Inland Revenues way of clawing it back by making your overpay).Hi - I have just found out today that I have been on tax code BR CUMUL for almost 5 years.

I would not rely on them processing a claim automatically for you even though they are aware of this fact now.
Contact your tax office, they will require confirmation of earnings P60s and a brief history of your employers, then sit back and wait for the money to roll in, it could be thousands !!!! (but don't hold me to that as I am not fully aware of all your financial wheelings & dealings)

Thanks for that - I have worked for the NHS for over 10 years - seems like I never got onto the correct tax code when I started at this hospital. Unfortunately I can't find any pay slips from my previous job.
My Dad thinks I should be entitled to a refund & it can be back dated a maximum of 7 years?
Could really do with a bit of unexpected cash as I'm on maternity pay at the moment!
I'll give it a few weeks & see if I hear from them - they said to expect a letter within 28 days :j0 -
Think its the past 6 years plus the current year but you are within time anyway. Thanks for that - I have worked for the NHS for over 10 years - seems like I never got onto the correct tax code when I started at this hospital. Unfortunately I can't find any pay slips from my previous job.

If all goes well, should be approx. £1,200 per each past year.
(That should keep you in nappies for a while? )
