Is the gro egg covered by any manufacturers warranty? Just don't want to buy one, is breaks down after a few months and have to buy another.Serial lurker..0

We had 3 and they all had to go back as they were faulty - in the end we gave up but that was 3 years ago so they may have rectified faults by now! Ours kept showing the wrong temperature by about 6 degrees!

Contacted the Gro egg company about my concerns, and other peoples issues to do with the gro egg and this is what they emailed me.
Thank you for your enquiry regarding the Gro-egg. We are aware that there have been some comments on the internet regarding the accuracy of the Gro-egg. As with any customer complaint we always ask for any product to be returned to us so that we can investigate the complaint fully. In the majority of cases the products have been found to be within specification. We are aware that the accuracy of temperature reading equipment is difficult to measure if the correct equipment and environmental controls are not used.
In order to test a returned egg, we place the product in a draft proofed box for approximately 3 hours with a thermocouple attached to a calibrated Digitron thermometer. The box has a window, so that we can monitor the read-outs without disturbance to the air inside and we monitor the readouts over several days.
In order to cover manufacturing spreads, the Gro-egg has a specified accuracy of + or - 1 degree Celcius.
Investigation has shown that typical reasons for an accurate unit to have its accuracy questioned include:
Customer touching the Thermistor or Thermistor moulding which was on the top of the socket on the back.
Difference in reaction time between measurement devices.
Errors in the other measurement devices.
Currents of air, causing differential temperatures.
Sun light.
In order to reduce these issues occurring we have since changed the location of the thermistor from the top of the connector to the rear of the connector. The result of this is that it is far less likely for the unit to be handled and alter the reading of the air temperature. The net result of this is that the level of complaints that we have had regarding the accuracy of the Gro-egg have reduced.
We are very happy with the accuracy of the Gro-egg and its performance in the market place. Please feel free to contact us regarding any queries that you may still have.
