Hi, can anyone help me with the following problem?
Vodafone are saying I owe them £373 because I agreed to try a phone which I believe I returned within 14 days. They didn't contact me for months after I'd returned the phone and I coudln't find anything to prove when I'd returned the phone. However, I did dispute it (this was about 4 months ago) and haven't heard anything until yesterday when an entry appeared on my credit report saying I'm more then 3 months late with the payment! I'm so upset at the thought that I might have to pay them that much money for 'trying' a phone that I only agreed to because when I tried to end my contract with them to get an iphone on 02 they convinced me that this phone was as good as an iphone. I'm sure I returned it within 14 days but I do recall having to contact them several times to get the bag I had to send it back in. I'm already struggling financially and this has just about finished me... I'm losing the will to battle my debts every day! what can I do as I don't know how to resolve this?

Hey Emma, I didnt want to just read and run.
I did exactly the same as you, tried out a phone with them sent it back and got an iphone instead. I had an email sent out but a courier picked the phone up I think cause the value of the phone was so high.
If you've phoned 7 times, there should be 'footprints' on your account where employees have accessed it when you've phoned. I'd send a recorded letter explaining this to them and pointing out that why else would you phone 7 times during the 14 day return period?
I know you said you can't find anything to prove the return, but Vodafone sent me an email with a label I was to print out and attach to send the phone back. Can you see if you were sent one as well?

Ive heard similar stories on the mobile forums, 12 month later a random bill arrives.

The above is true, there should be notes on the account for when you called and queried it.

Can you remember how you sent it back, recorded delivery, courier pickup. Do you still have the proof of posting/collection receipt.
You'll need some proof that it was sent/collected to back up your side that you no longer have it.
