Air Conditioner 149.99

Hi,

This is a first time post, but feeling the heat this summer, I decided to have a search around for an air conditioning unit.

I'm now the proud owner of a 149.99 Homebase one which is a 9000 BTU unit which should cool a 20 sq m room.

It's not available online and I think the stores are running out,so you may have to call around. I bought mine from the Finchley Road branch.

This is by far the cheapest air conditioner I've found and even the 169 pound ones are only 7000 BTU. For some reason air conditioning rental companies charge from 35 pounds per week for an aircon with similar specs to this.

Thanks for bearing with me,

Kun

Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

We bought one of these a couple of years ago from homebase. It does cool the air, but has to be placed very close to a window/somewhere to vent the hot exhaust. The outlet hose is only about 3/4 feet long. I extended ours with a tumble dryer venting hose. This is a bit narrower and so reduces the efficiency a bit but it was useless to us with such a short hose.

Also the unit is rather noisy. Too loud to have in a room that you are trying to sleep/watch TV in. We use it to cool the bedroom for an hour or so before we go to bed.

Not too bad foe the price. I think we paid about £199 from memory. With this heat, I might see if I can get another one.

I have one of these in my office (15 sq m) and, whilst it blows out cool air, it doesn't make the room much cooler although nicer than outside. Sometimes we have three guys and five computers in here though.
It is a noisy unit and we have to turn it off if on the phone etc.
    Can I help?
  • I don't know if it was this one buit we returned one to homebase last year as it was very ineffective. I was thinking about installing one of those proper built in airconditioners does anyone know of a quiet one!!??
