This is the full version for free (at least for now). It will give you updates until version 1.9.9 (current version is 1.0). Fill in your details and you’ll get a registration code instantly. I’ve been letting it run this morning and it’s already saved 4GB of space on my hard drive.

Note on compression: this will compress the files on your drive so they take up less space. This may mean that it takes longer for the computer to open the files as it must decompress the files on-the-fly. The developers point out that this should be offset by the fact that smaller files take less time to read. They also say that the applications like Safari and Mail installed by Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) come compressed already and work perfectly fine, so extending the compression to all your applications and documents should be perfectly safe.
