Cheapest Fish?

Hi, Where does everyone buy their fish from? I have a fair amount of freezer space and am after fish without batter, in its nearest natural form, not many other ingredients.
Hopefully this will help others in our quest to save money wherever possible but remain healthy.
Fish is an important protein that is often forgotten. Hence im asking now, we haven't had it for ages and I want to start stocking up.
Thanks.

You can get great deals most months on wet fish. Depends on who you shop with but shop around and buy the offers only. Buying from Fresh counters at the end of the day can get you some bargains. Buying frozen is a lot cheaper than fresh. Just be careful of what you buy.
Nearly all fish sold in shops now has to say how it was caught. Avoid any type of deep see dredged. Or some of the other methods that wipe our the enviroment. It may save you 20p a pack to ignore this advice but its the reason certain types of fish are so expensive now. Not much is left if you drag a huge net accross the floor of the ocean for 20 miles.0 -
The 'glitch' on this offer has now expired.Check out this thread:

Have you heard of James of Pershore / Jame the Fish? They do wonderful fish. I think they have a website - we buy locally as we aren't far from them but I am sure they do have. Will have a look.

From your link, then Price List, the list is nearly 12 months out of date! If they can't be bothered to update their website, what hope for CS?Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Lidl do 1kg of frozen pollock for £3.45 - lovely bit of fish for pies etc! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I think the price list on the James the Fish site might be in date, they have just put the wrong year on it. As the 16th of Feb is a tues this year and would not have been back in 2009.
I hope so as the prices look really good compared to the prices per kg I saw in the supermarket yesterday.0 -
I had a look at the James the Fish site, they maybe do local farmer's markets although there are none near to me unfortunately. I don't think they actually sell their products online, which is a great shame as I would have placed a very big order with them.

sainsburys basics white fish fillets frozen £1.94 for 540 grams.
I chuck em in fish pie or cover with tomato and chilli.
They're pretty good but I probably wouldnt just grill them with lemon.
The basics salmon filets are pretty good too, odd sizes but taste good, no qualms about eating these plainly.0 -

They deliver to certain parts of the country on set days each month, see their delivery dates here:
