Quick Question: Banking small change/coins

Morning All,
Just sorting thru my small change and have some HBOS bags that say
eg
£5 SILVER in 10p or 5p
£10 SILVER in 50p or 20p
£20 in POUND COIN
NO MIXED COIN
Does that mean I can mix 10p and 5p coins in a bag to make £5 but am not allowed to mix between categories or is it strictly one type of coin per bag?
ta

I believe when i last handed in my Jar, it was 1p or 2p, i do not think you can mix them.
But the total value cannot exceed the amount listed.
So 100 *1p = £1, or 50 *2p = £1, you don't mix or exceed the value.
My bank also limited the hand in as they didnt have a proper vault, you might want to ring up and ask first, if you taking more than 5 bags in.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -
You cannot mix 1p with 2p or 5p with 10p. The weighting machine cannot deal with mixed coins at the bank.
You may also find that the bank does not allow more than 5 bags of coins a day to be paid in, unless its a childrens account.0 -
No none of bags can be mixed. Bags mean £5 bag of 10p or £20 bag of £1's etc0

If you have a lot of coins, you could try changing them in one of those change machines in supermarket foyers.
I have a money box that I save small change in and, when full, holds about £100 of coins. The first time I changed it, I used the machine and was horrified to see that it cost me about £8 for the transaction so the next few times I bagged and banked it.
Next time, I've decided to go back to the machine as it takes me about an hour to sort and bag it, and then another 15 minutes at the bank, what with parking and standing in a queue - I'll just tip it all into the machine - my time is worth more than £8 per hour-and-a-quarter.
Of course, if you have smaller amounts of change, this does not apply. I could save smaller quantities at a time but then £100 all in one go allows me to splash out on something worthwhile.0 -
That's right, you can't mix any of the coins. If it's a bag of 5ps, that's all they want in there, same with all other denominations. They have to weigh them so need them accurate. And I'm sure we've all stood behind someone in the bank or post office queue who takes out a dog-eared old freezer bag with a big pile of mixed coins in...........usually when I'm on my half an hour lunch break......it takes ages as they have to count mixed bags coin by coin while everyone else chunters!2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Thanks all,
I thought in the old days they made some pairs of coins in specific volume/weight rations (ie 2p coin weighed exactly double a 1p coin, 10p weighed 2x a 5p coin) so you could mix to some degree within defined categories and the coins could be tallied up by weight.... guess they don't do that any more.
I'll wait for a bit more change to roll in -luckily I have a bank 30 secs walk from my front door so its not too much hassle0
