Taking training at work

Hi
I have a training course with work planned next week, and at the same time I am applying for other jobs elsewhere.
Although I shouldn't feel bad I do a tiny little bit that I am attending a course which they are paying for, yet at the same time I am looking for other jobs.
After taking the course I may have to wait upto a month to officially find out if I have passed or not. My question is, what if within that time I attend interviews for jobs and I need to give my months notice.
Can my current employer intervene and stop me receiving my qualification if I am leaving even though I have attended the course?
I am not doing it to deceive them, this course has been planned for months now, and I can't exactly tell them I am thinking of leaving so I wont do the course because that would be silly, but I am wondering how it would go down to leave soon after I did it

If the company are paying for the course then they effectively own the qualification and so can withhold your certificates etc from you.
Are you relying on the qualification as part of your CV to get the new position?:jI am an Employment Law Paralegal and an experienced Human Resources Manager and offer my guidance as simply that ... guidance :j0
