Hi, i defaulted on my Dell computer account through CIT Group... I paid what i thought to be a full and final settlement to a debt collection company (cant remember the name) but then 6 months or so later Dell / CIT wrote to me advising i still owed them money. I rang them and said i'd settled it with the debt collection company. heard nothing else for a while, until BPO Collections contacted me wanting 250 quid. I paid 50 pound over the phone....

now ive checked my experian report and this is what it shows:
Company name:CIT GROUP (UK) LTD
Account type:Hire purchase/Conditional sale
Started:18/06/2007
Current Balance:Settled
Repayment Period:
Monthly Payment: £20 over 36 months
Settled On:22/12/2009
File Updated for the Period to:03/01/2010

so does 'settled' mean i dont owe the debt collectors (BPO) ? or is this irrelevent?

for what it's worth this experian also does not show up my CCJ for council tax, a loan ive kept up to date with for 4 years or my mortgage which i havent had a late payment for....

edit

i paid the 50 pound to BPO after the 'settled on' date... they now are hassling me for the other 200.

any advice pleasE?
