Help needed with outstanding phone/internet/tv bill

Hi folks

Was hoping to get some advice for my mum. She's with NTL and her recent bill landed through her letterbox with a very heavy thud - this month it was £180:eek:

Unfortunately my brother managed to get £50 worth of movies to my mum's horror but the rest is made up with broadband charges and a couple of late payment fees not to mention because she's no bank account they charge her more (this fee makes me really mad  ) Anyway, to cut a long story short she's on benefits and now can't afford to pay this bill, I suggested she write a letter stating she can't afford it (basically it's either buy food or pay the phone bill). Do you think they would accept a minimum payment each month? She's in no other debt apart from this but only gets £120 per week for her and my brother which goes on the basics.

Thanks in advance.

I would definately try and write a letter explaining the situation to ntl. However they may still cut of the phone and internet if the bill is not paid in full even if they accept the offer of educed payments.

You dont say how old your brother is but from my point of view i hope he's going to FIND £50 by selling anything he may possess on e-bay or at a car boot I certainly wouldn't let him get away with spending that much money he doesn't have.

hope your mum sorts something out.
