Only if the company SAR'd does not have enough information to be sure that they are sending the requested info to the correct person.

Often you will have no reason to doubt a person’s identity. For example, if a person with whom you have regular contact sends a letter from their known address it may be safe to assume that they are who they say they are.
If they are so unsure of the persons identity that they need a signature, then why the hell have they issued a court claim against them?

  • sorry but need help again the solicitors are still refusing to send me the sar down they have again returned my cheque telling me that it is not their policy to to repsond to dpa requests which are unsigned. This is the second time they have sent this back the first time I received it back I sent the letter that Susie T suggested and now have it back again. They are already taking me to court over this (which I am defending) please help me to get this info down.

I would sign it with a different signature, I mean, ie. your Initial and the your name, something completely different than your original signature, that way if they came with a doggy CCA copy with that signature you just sent them, then that will be your proof that they made one the spot.
