Hello Everyone,
Ive recieved a Debt collection letter from Wescot credit services. The letter states i owe money which is correct so i have no dispute with that.I get paid tomorrow so i'm planning on contacting them in the morning.I'm not able to pay the amount in full but dont really want to set up a payment plan..i just want rid of it..would they accept a reduced amount if i said i would pay it on the day? ive not much experience with debt collection so a little nervous about contacting them. The amount i owe is only £90 that might not sound much but i only have a low income and i'm struggling abit at the moment. Can anyone help?
Thanks

May i ask what the debt is for?
Debt collectors to accept full and final offers (20-70% of total), however some debts like fines are likely to be non-negotiable. All you can do is ask, sending it in writing is best.

Hi
The debt is for a loan which i didnt complete with a high street bank. How do you think i should mention it when i phone? ask them if they would accept a certain amount or just ask the question?
ThanksNOEL GALLAGHER IS GOD0 -
Honestly, i would not phone, debt collectors are known to be bullies and dishonest on the phone, so take that in mind if you do wish to phone.
A written full and final offer (template in the link above) will be the best way of putting your offer forward.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

The letter states i need to contact them by the 26th feb (tomorrow) The reason ive waited is like i said i get paid tomorrow..the letter is dated 12/02/10.I think its best if i write to them following your advice which i'll do now. They wont recieve my letter untill next week which obviously is after the 26th.Do you think this will matter? The debt is £90 surely they'l not come knocking on my door will they?
ThanksNOEL GALLAGHER IS GOD0 -

If you wish, you could ring and say you only recently got their letter, and that you are ringing to inform that your return offer is in the post.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
