So annoyed with Tesco

Just a little warning about buying Tesco clothing online. It costs £2 to return by post or free to return to store, so I decided to return to store.
Coincidently the lady in front of me was returning an online order and the assistant was a bit snotty and said 'if we don't actually sell it in the store we can't accept it back and it will have to be posted back' (nowhere online does it state this) but when she scanned it it came up so she got her money back. I started to worry and thought oh no if they don't scan ok I'm in for a problem and hoped all my items would scan OK. Anyway that was the least of my problems.
I had about ten items to return, I have three kids and made a very large order. The assistant was incredulous and said 'you're returning all these??' as if it was really strange! Then she said they have had all sorts of problems with online orders as the item descriptions on the tags don't match those on the receipt. She proceeded to go through my items and managed to work out what was what by the somewhat dodgy descriptions and matching the prices. One item though caused trouble. It was a dress and the only item matching the price I'd paid said 'dress and leggings set' and the assistant wouldn't have it that it was the right item as there were no leggings. I told her that it must be that item as there wasn't anything else at that price. She stated she 'only had my word for it' and I couldn't have the refund  Another assistant came along and basically told me the same thing. They were making me feel like a liar over something which was a fault with their system  anyway I stood my ground and stated I wasn't moving until it was sorted out, all very embarrassing as a long queue was forming behind me but there was no way I was leaving without my refund. I suggested they phone they online clothing section but they said they couldn't?! In the end they gave me the refund but made me feel like they were doing me a favour for gods sake! I have never been so embarrassed and I'll certainly not buy online from them again!!
I've written a snotty email but doubt they'll do anything

Poor you. I never buy anything from those Tesco ratbags unless its a mega bargain! The service is abysmal. I had to do the same as you in ASDA too. It was only when I pointedly looked at the SA's name badge and asked for the HO address, that 'Just this once, they would refund etc'.
My nan wrote and complained about the poor servce once, and didn't even get the courtesy of a response.
I agree, don't buy from them again! M&S are jsut as bad by the way, my pal bought a jumper that cost £35, and shrunk on the 1st wash. M&S accused her of washing it on a temperature hotter than recommended, and said they would have to 'send it off for analysis'!! Honestly!
Next are very good I think though. Also, haven't had any problems with Matalan. Sainsburys are BRILLIANT! I returned a sleepsuit that had split on the crotch after a month's use, and they immediately swapped it for another, telling me to return it if the same thing occurred.

Tesco are bad at customer service we went to say we had been over charged once and got a snotty lady who said no you haven't the offer ended yesterday even though the offer price was still advertised and that she couldn't let me have it at that price. By the time I we had finished arguing the point two secrurity men were standing over us and we felt very intimidated by the staff.
Needless to say I got the manager who did let me have the offer price but I have not been to that particular Tesco for a while.
I always thought the customer was right?0 -
I have just got off the phone with Tesco after having my shopping delivered with 'off' meat for the second time! I moved house in November so my shopping is now coming from a different store and they are the masters at picking stuff with the shortest date or stuff that isn't even in date or making random subsitutions and then when the order is delivered the shopping looks like they have been playing football with it cos the cans are dented and the eggs broken but this was the last straw for me when i opened the meat and it was green!
Customer is not always right it seems when it comes to tesco because they were saying to me how it is acceptable to send me meat that goes off that same day- even though my shopping is delivered after 9pm....if i went to the store it would have a yellow sticker on it!SLIMMING WORLD 13/5/2012- 6lb loss total weight loss 5 stone 8lb

Similar thing happened to me too with M&S. Bought my hubby a merino wool jumper there and obviously washed it, as per the instructions, on a low temperature with special "wool & silk" detergent, but nevertheless it came out a size smaller and with 2 holes in it. When I took it back I was accused of having washed it in bio detergent and they also said they would send it for analysis. I did eventually get a refund - in the form of vouchers though, rather than a cash refund, which I wasn't happy about.0 -
Same here. Bought a basque from M&S (to wear with support stockings to work as i'd had varicose vein surgery) the straps came apart on the first wearing and they refused to refund. Sent it off for analysis, which turns out to just be somebody else looking at it. No "analysis" at all. They also refused to refund stating that it had been PULLED. Yes it was pulled, by the force of the stockings that's all:mad:. I looked online and found that other customers had returned the bra from the same range with the same problem. Presumably caused by the weight of their boobs:eek:

You should have got double the difference back, if they overcharged and were still advertsing the sale price after it had ended.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100
